Stephen Goddard, originally from Altadena, California, is a retired curator of prints & drawings (Spencer Museum of Art, University of Kansas). He made his first prints as a child at the Pasadena Art Museum. He has studied printmaking at Pasadena City College, Grinnell College, the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, and the University of Iowa. His etchings and engravings are printed on a fifteen-inch Conrad etching press  at his Estes Park studio. His activities as a photographer began when he was given his first camera at age twelve. He continues to work in both analog (film) and digital formats.

He says of the work shared here, “This selection of photographs, prints and drawings represents some of my interests: close-up examination; human  landscapes;  the  surprising (charismatic, ironic, alarming) encounters between the plant world, the human world, and the realms of other animals. If there is a sub-text or an undertow to my images it may be their ability to serve as visual reminders that we are, at least for now, a species out of sync with other lifeforms. It is my hope that they also  convey a love for the natural world as well as our tenuous and disruptive relationship to it.”
